Missing Child? - I’d Scream it From the Rooftops

Caylee Marie Anthony is missing. Her mother Casey Anthony is being charged with murder. You can read the entire news story here:

What amazes me in the story is that her mother never reported her missing. Caylee’s grandmother did after not seeing Caylee for a month. As a mother of two young daughters, I can’t imagine not reporting my child missing. I would be screaming from the rooftops and enlisting everyone I know to help find her.  Casey Anthony said she didn’t report her daughter missing because she was scared. OK, but she didn’t mention it to anyone. Not a friend. Not her parents - no one! I just can’t imagine.

Her lawyer says once we hear the entire story, we will all say Oh I get it. But I am not sure why they aren’t releasing any information that would help her case. If in fact, this is the truth.

As an example, when my nephews were little on one Saturday, my sister was outside doing yard work. They own a few acres. The boys were young. The youngest went missing. She called the neighbors, she call us - her family. We all drove over to try and help find him. Their property is long and narrow so there was quite a bit of land to cover. I think she called the police, or at least considered it, I can’t completely remember. About a half hour of looking, we found him in his bed underneath a ton of stuffed animals sound asleep. The first time we checked the house, we didn’t see him because he was covered with stuffed animals. He was tired from all the fresh air and put himself to bed. Whew! But my point is, my sister called everyone to get help in finding him. Everyone dropped what he or she was doing and went looking. To me, this is the correct response. I can’t imagine a scenario in my mind that would keep me quiet, for months about my missing daughter unless…

I so agree with you and have for quite a while. The mother and grandmother’s actions have always seemed so bizarre too me. It smelled bad for a long time, and I’m so glad they have indicted the mother.
