My Life, My Children

I saw a local politician’s commercial the other day that got me thinking. He said something like vote for four more years so we can be put to hard work. I am not sure that all politicians think this way but honestly, we are voting them into a position that is hard work. It is dedication to service. It is sacrificing for others. Given this dedication, they deserve a certain level of respect, whether or not we agree with them politically. I don’t think they deserve to be picked at or broken down. I am not saying that discussion or even debating is bad. Using actual factual information is not negative. But trying to find dirt, trying to break someone, trying to dredge someone through the muck has got to stop in my opinion. We need politicians. We need them to do their job. That is how our country works. Another way to think about it was recently heard on a television interview. It went something like government is like an eagle. We need both the left and right wing in order to fly. They work together for the greater good. We don’t have to attack each other for thinking differently but rather pursue ways to work our differences out together to fly!
